What is the role of a defense attorney in a military trial?
I am the defense attorney in a mock of the My Lai trial, and need to know the attorney's role.
This is for an 8th grade enrichment class and I don't know what the military defense attorney's role is. Is the role the same as any defense attorney?

- the same role as a defense attorney in civilian life. The only difference is the Judge and Jury are Military.
- Your role is to defend your client against the charges.
- Is this a trick question? Am I so old that I can't understand the question? I asked myself, WHAT DOES A DEFENSE ATTORNEY DO. I was going to answer quickly and say THE DEFENSE ATTORNEY DEFENDS THE DEFENDANT. But then I re-read the question and tried to find the the TRICK in it.
I'M SO CONFUSED!!
- To defend the accused, within the parameter's of the UCMJ!
- As been held true as of late...the defense attorney has absolutely NO role in a military trial. Except to be used as a "show piece" so that Adolph Bush and his military thugs can say "see, we do it fairly"!
