How much should it cost for an attorney on a felony charge?
My husband has been charged with a Class D Felony for voyeurism. I want to know if the cost this attorney gave us is fair.
I won't divorce him for this, he is seeking professional help as he has an emotional disorder- the attorney we are talking to says that this is not a sex crime in our state, and isn't being treated as one.
This attorney gave us a 7000 flat fee. Sounds like it is a fair one, so we will take it- he came highly recommended from my private attorney.

- Attorney's fees vary by experience, anticipated workload, whether the attorney is an individual or member of a firm, and where you live. There is no standard set of fees.
- I suppose it is up to each individual attorney to set his fee. Why don't you ask several attorneys for a price?
- This is no time to be cheap. If you do not qualify for a public defender, interview several lawyers and hire the best one you can afford. Fees are negotiable and depend on the time the lawyer will spend on your case and the experience of the lawyer.
- In my area, (Pennsylvania)a lawyer with 1-5 years experience, $ 150 to $ 200 an hour, an experienced attorney., 170 to 250 an hour. Double tha tif it goes to court.
- You shouldn't be looking for a defense lawyer you should be looking for a divorce attorney!!!!!!!!
- It varies. Low ballpark is 3-500 per hour tripling for court time. Figure $6000.00 pre-court and another $10,000 for court appearances. These are just estimates based on what lawyers I know would charge.
Also that voyeurism charge will carry with it a mandatory sex-crime enhancement in most states and that means registering as a sex-offender for the REST OF HIS LIFE. You should take the advice someone else offered and run, don't walk to a divorce atty.
