How much does it cost to consult an attorney?

If you've read my other questions, I'm sure you know what this is about. But, I'm wondering how much it costs to call an attorney just to get possibly some advice and find out more information about current laws in North Carolina.

1. $250 an hour on average....not cheap.....
2. The initial consultation should be free if the attorney is worth his/her salt.
   
   
   
   After that, you'll have to pay a retainer fee, which is around $1k-$2k.
3. it depends what attorney u talk to, but usually they charge u by the hour, at least my dad's attorney does!! they usually charge my dad around $100 per hr, so it all comes down to ur lawyer, or the person!!
4. Most lawyers do not charge a fee for consultation.
5. it depends on what type of service you need. Some fees are free until the case is settled, some will work out payment options, and others wish to have monies paid up front.
6. I've never read any of your other questions, so I don't know or care why you need to or want to speak to an attorney. But initial consultations are usually free. When they start giving defense strategy, or telling you how they are going to present the case, that usually costs $$$$$
